Privacy Policy
Reels Engine is a private, single-user Windows desktop application. It is used only by its owner, on the owner's own computer, with the owner's own Pinterest account. It has no cloud database, no server-side storage and no other users.
1. Information the application accesses
When the owner connects their Pinterest account, the application requests only these permissions:
boards:read— the boards saved by the account owner.pins:read— the Pins saved by the account owner within those boards.
Using these permissions the application reads board names and the Pins within them, in order to display them on screen. The application does not request write permissions and cannot create, schedule, edit or delete Pinterest content. It does not collect analytics, tracking data, location data, contacts or payment information, and it does not access other people's private Pinterest data.
2. Why the information is used
The information is used for one purpose: to display the owner's own boards and Pins on screen so the owner can browse them and share ones they like with friends.
Sharing is always done by sending the original Pin's link, so the recipient views the image on Pinterest with the original creator's attribution intact. The application never sends the image file itself.
The information is not used for advertising, profiling, marketing, resale or machine-learning training.
3. No storage of Pinterest information
Board and Pin information obtained from the Pinterest API is held only in the application's memory while it is running, for the sole purpose of displaying it. It is not written to disk at any point.
Specifically, the application does not save Pin images or board data to any file, folder, spreadsheet, database or cache, does not build a local collection or archive, and does not retain any Pinterest information after it is closed. Closing the application discards it entirely.
4. No new content created from Pins
The application does not download, edit, crop, combine, annotate or export Pin images, and does not use them to produce new material such as slideshows, videos, compilations or posts on other platforms. Pins are only ever displayed and linked to.
5. Security of access tokens
Pinterest access and refresh tokens are credentials rather than API content, and are stored on the owner's computer encrypted with the Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI), scoped to the owner's Windows user account. They can only be decrypted while signed in as that Windows user on that machine.
Tokens are never written to logs, never shared with any third party, and never sent anywhere other than Pinterest's own API endpoints as part of normal authentication.
6. Sharing and disclosure
No information is sold or rented, and there are no advertising networks, analytics providers or data brokers involved. No third party receives Pinterest login credentials, access or refresh tokens, board information or Pin information. When the owner shares a Pin with a friend, what is sent is the public Pinterest link to that Pin, and nothing else.
7. Retention
Because no Pinterest information is written to disk, there is nothing to retain: it exists only in memory while the application is open. Encrypted tokens are retained only while the Pinterest account remains connected, and are deleted when the owner disconnects it.
8. Deletion and user choices
The owner is in full control at all times and can:
- Disconnect Pinterest from within the application, which deletes the stored encrypted access and refresh tokens.
- Revoke the application's access at any time from Pinterest account settings, independently of the application.
- Delete the application's local data folder, which contains only the application's own settings. Uninstalling the application on its own may leave that folder in place, so it should be deleted separately if the owner wants everything removed.
9. Children's privacy
The application is not directed at children. It is a private tool used solely by its adult owner and is not distributed to or made available to the public, so no information from children is knowingly collected. If you believe a child's information has somehow been involved, contact the address below and it will be deleted.
10. Changes to this policy
If the application's data handling changes, this policy will be updated and the effective date at the top of the page revised. Because the application has a single user, changes are communicated by publishing the revised policy at this address.
